“It is always exactly the healing I need. She applies the right amount of pressure to the right spots and really calms my nervous system. She helps create balance in my body, ease my discomfort and alleviate my pain. I've noticed improvement with my range of motion and overall body movements. Her massage sessions are both relaxing and rejuvenating! I highly recommend her healing touch!”

“I am blown away! I am deeply relieved after my first visit with Jenelle. I can’t even put a into words the emotions that rushed over me by the end. When I left I was literally breathing better. I feel taller. I feel calm. I can visibly see the difference in my neck before and after. I think I also look happier.”

Jenelle Woodlief is the founder of Root & Rise and a bodyworker devoted to helping people reconnect with their bodies through nervous system–informed care.
Her work is rooted in the understanding that chronic pain, tension, and overwhelm are not random—they are patterns shaped by the body’s response to stress over time.
Through Root & Rise, Jenelle brings together her years of experience in bodywork, somatic practice, and nervous system healing to support people in finding real, lasting relief.
Jenelle’s work integrates:
- structural and myofascial bodywork
- Thai-inspired movement and compression
- nervous system regulation (polyvagal-informed)
- breath awareness and somatic integration
Rather than focusing only on muscles, her approach works with the relationship between structure, nervous system, and breath, helping the body release deeper patterns of tension.
She works with clients experiencing chronic pain, stress-related tension, burnout, and nervous system dysregulation throughout Beaverton and the greater Portland area.

Root & Rise was created from a simple but powerful realization:
Many people are living disconnected from their bodies—not because they want to, but because their nervous systems have adapted to stress, pressure, and overwhelm.
Jenelle created Root & Rise as a way to make nervous system education and embodied healing more accessible.
The work is designed to help people:
- understand their nervous system patterns
- develop tools for regulation
- reconnect with their bodies in a sustainable way
Jenelle’s approach is grounded in the belief that:
- the body is not the problem—it is responding
- healing happens through safety, not force
- lasting change comes from working with the nervous system, not overriding it
This perspective shapes everything she creates through Root & Rise.
In addition to Root & Rise, Jenelle offers hands-on bodywork and therapeutic massage focused on chronic pain and nervous system support.
